My husband and I visited Nashville for our wedding anniversary a few years ago. We had a great time exploring the city and surrounding area. You don’t need to be a huge country music fan to enjoy this city as there are varieties of music everywhere you go. We were pleasantly surprised by the great weather on our trip which made our exploration more enjoyable.
Where to stay:
There are plenty of hotel and Airbnb options in the city. We stayed at the Virgin Hotels Nashville which is located in the Music Row neighborhood. We liked this area because it was centrally located to the activities we were interested in. We were about 30 minutes walking to Broadway, 20 minutes to Centennial Park and 20 minutes to the Gulch. The hotel is relatively new and has nice rooms. There are a few options for dining in the hotel. We enjoyed the rooftop bar. In warmer temperatures, there is a pool at the roof.
Getting Around:
We got around on foot or by taking Ubers. Uber was very affordable in the city and we didn’t typically wait very long. There is some public transportation but it doesn’t seem to be heavily utilized. There are also public scooters and bikes for rent via Bird, Lime and Spin.
Things to do:
-See a show at the Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry is a radio show that has a live audience. There are typically a variety of performances. We really enjoyed the show. The theater is outside of the city so keep that in mind.
-Visit Centennial Park
Centennial Park is a fun stop to see a replica of the Pantheon. There is an art museum inside if you wish to check it out.

-See a Predators Game
If you are in Nashville during hockey season, it is worth seeing a hockey game. The stadium is in the middle of the city. They also have live music at breaks which gives a Nashville flair.
-Explore Broadway
A main attraction of Broadway is the many bars that have live music. It’s worth spending a day hopping from bar to bar. A few have rooftop bars. Some have restaurants attached. If you don’t like the music, you can move to the next bar or a different room in the bar.
-Walk the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge
This bridge is very close to Broadway. It is worth walking the bridge to get a nice view of the city.

-Tour Breweries
There are a bunch of breweries in and around the Gulch area. Yee Haw Brewery is probably the largest with yard games and a attached distillery. We also visited Tennessee Brewworks and Marble Fox Brewing Company.

Day Trips:
There are plenty of options for things to do outside the city. We rented a car with Truro and drove out to the Corvette Museum and Mammoth Caves National Park.
Restaurants:
Hattie B’s- Hattie B’s is one of the most popular spots for hot chicken. They have several locations in the city but expect to wait for a bit.
Biscuit Love- Biscuit Love is a popular breakfast restaurant spot in the Gulch. Get there early to avoid a long line.
Husk- Husk has multiple locations in southern cities like Charleston and Savannah. Their Nashville location is located in a Victorian house. They serve southern classics with a modern twist and their menu is constantly changing. This is a higher end spot but not completely unaffordable.
Pelican & Pig- This restaurant has an open kitchen. We sat at the bar and were able to watch.
Frothy Monkey- This is a popular coffee shop in the 12 South neighborhood. In this neighborhood, there are plenty of shops. You can also see the “I believe in Nashville” mural.
Bavarian Bierhaus- This restaurant is a traditional beer hall that is a good option near the Grand Ole Opry. We had a fun time and enjoyed the music.
Bars:
Broadway Neighborhood- Robert’s Western World is a classic Nashville bar with affordable beers. Tooties Orchid Lounge is a few doors down and another popular classic option. Luke’s 32 Bridge is a great option with a rooftop. Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa bar is a good option if you want food too.
Beyond Broadway
Chopper- This is a tiki bar with a strong theme. The drinks are very strong so be careful!
